Protest on Youth Day:

Limbe SDF youths to march with black outfits
By Nwo Fuanya in Limbe
The Socialist Youth of the SDF Party in the Limbe 1 Electoral District have announced that they shall be coming out massively in black outfit to take part in this year’s youth day activities as a sign of their disgruntlement of the things that are unfolding in the country. The decision is contained in a press release signed by the SDF Limbe District Chairman, Ndenge Godden Zama and dated 29 January 2016.
Amongst other things, the release states that “We have decided to use the 50th Anniversary of the youth day to mourn all the falling soldiers (most of them youths) and the intolerable loss of human life in the North of Cameroon. The Socialist youths of the SDF in Limbe would therefore be marching in black on the 11th of February to honour the lives of civilians and military men lost in battle. It is the opinion of the SDF in Limbe that this is not an appropriate time to celebrate and that Cameroonian youths have nothing to celebrate about.”

The release adds that: “taking into consideration the municipal deliberation to demolish makeshift structures along the major streets of Limbe and the 31st January deadline; knowledgeable of the instruction of the Administration for vigilante groups to be set up in the various quarters in Limbe; touched by the continuous loss of life of young Cameroonians in the North of the Country and in remembrance of the devastating loss of one of Limbe’s most illustrious son a year ago; The Social democratic Front in Limbe  1  recommends that the city council starts the demolition exercise by demolishing all makeshift council structures constructed in wood.
This would include most of the market infrastructure in Limbe and particularly the part of the Newtown market lying on the road going down to the manga Williams avenue. We urge the city council to create employment opportunities for youths rather than demolish houses left for them by their fathers and grandfathers; that the administration of Fako reopens dialogue between the royal traditional council of Limbe and the D.Os to replace dead and aging quarter heads.     It is the opinion of the SDF that it would be a danger to the population of Limbe for vigilante groups to be set up in quarters without quarter heads. Any action that has been taken to this effect should immediately be declared null and void and the correct procedures pursued. Our ultimate wish and the wish of the people of Limbe would be to see the enthronement of a new 1st Class Chief in Limbe.
The District Chairman, Ndenge Godden Zama told reporters that the party has already started mobilization for the 11 February march pass, adding that just like in the past, it is going to be another opportunity to demonstrate that the SDF is the leading and winning party in the city of Limbe and beyond.
