Muea, Buea sub-division

Apostle Divine C. Okafor
Man of God arrested for rape, money extortion
By Ajongakou Santos in Buea

Renowned Buea-based ‘Man of God’, Major Apostle Divine C. Okafor of the Life Transformers Ministry International is under police custody since Monday, February 15, 2015. Arrested by elements of the Buea Judicial Police, he is accused of mass rapes, extortion of money from his female worshipers, and questioned on the legality of his church.
Reports say, the Self-Proclaimed ‘Prophet’ is accused by over eight (8) girls, aged between 17 and 27, of forceful sexual assault, psychological abuse and extortion from worshipers to whom he has promised jobs as ushers in his ministry. The girls wrote a formal complaint to the Human Rights and Freedoms office in Buea, noting among several other issues that the Apostle has not only been sexually harassing them, but has also demanded money from them, on grounds that they will be given jobs, others promised marriage. The man of God has denied all the allegations, saying they are trials on his faith.
The Median gathered that over 100 worshipers of the ministry stormed the police cell few hours after he was detained requesting his immediate release or they all be arrested. The church members were forced out of the premises in the late nights of Monday, February 15, 2016.

The Median also learned that lawyers of the Apostle have made sustained efforts, even promising as much as CFA Francs 1million, to get their client released on bail, we learned. But they have received stiff resistance from the regional representative of the National Human Rights Commission who has sworn to take the matter to court.
In an interview with the State Broadcaster, CRTV, Mr. Mathias Njome Ekeke, a senior official of the South West Regional office of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission said some eight (8) girls reported cases of extortion of funds and sexual harassment by the ‘Man of God’.
Inhabitants of Buea and neighbouring towns have interpreted the attempted bail of CFA Francs 1million as Apostle Divive Okafor’s attempt to bribe elements of the Judicial Police. They argue that bails are not that expensive and that such huge sums go a long way to confirm the fact that his church is a money-making institution. Some of them, who are faithful viewers of his Television Channel “Transformers Television”, revealed to The Median that the ‘Man of God’ had recently in church announced that he has made his first billion.
Apostle Divine is likewise accused of operating illegally, that is, without authorization from the Cameroon Government. The Median confirmed this after a chat with a source at the South West Governor’s office.
All attempts by The Median to talk to some faithful of the church failed. Most of them refused to talk, while a few only said “these are trials and temptations.”
Sometime last year, The Median also watched a video that revealed that another ‘Man of God’, Prophet Souleman, while on a crusade tripe to Cameroon had prophesied that “There is a certain man of God in Buea who will soon be exposed and his church population will drop drastically from 9,000 to 2,000”. It will therefore seem that the prophet’s prophesy has come to pass.
It is not the first time the Self-Proclaimed Apostle is involved in such misdeed. Last month, Buea-based taxi drivers vowed that the law guiding intra-urban transportation in Cameroon must be respected. They frowned at the fact that the popular Live Transformers Ministries International of the renowned “Major Prophet”, now “Major Apostle” Divine C. Okafor, at the Mount Camel Entrance Muea, Buea has introduced buses that have for two months plied the streets of Buea. The taxi drivers said it is criminal for buses to ply the streets of the town.
‘Major Apostle’ Divine Okafor is expected at the State Council this Monday, February 22, 2016 to defend himself. He will have to prove to the world that he is not guilty of raping and sexually assaulting his female worshipers, give a clear detail of his source of income, and in another count, prove whether or not his church is legal.

To be continued…………………
