The CPDM central committee chairman, Mr.
Jean Nkwete has called on the population of Buea and the SWR in general to be
watchful on what they get from social media. This called was made on Tuesday
December 6, 2016 as the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement; CPDM organized a
Grand Rally 2016. This event which brought together some party heavyweights,
party sympathizers, and the population of Buea was held under the theme “Yes to
National Unity, Peace, Concord and Fraternity”.
The
conveyance of this meeting according to the CPDM central committee chairman was
very necessary, coming at a times when the Country in General and the Buea in
particular has been going through numerous grievances ranging from Anglophone
teachers, Lawyers and of recent the University of Buea students. Much of what
the population gets is from the various social media platforms which the
population adhere to. “You should be objective wherever you get your
information because they can actually cause chaos in the country and destroy
the peace which Cameroon and Buea is known for. He however called on the
population to be watchful on members of the underworld and those trying to
distort the unity of Cameroon as one indivisible country as is even stated in
the constitution of the country. Most country who has sought to separate from
the main country though violence such as Nigeria, Libya can attest to the fact
that to solve an issue involve dialogue and not violence.
To
Mr Jean Nkwete, those who have never built anything will look for any means to
destroy something but to those who have spent their effort in building a piece
of work will never seek to destroy it. According to him, the various officials
that have sought to calm down the various grievances in the country such as the
law enforcement officers who intervened to curb the violence going on in UB. He
however did not lambast the atrocities committed on these students such as
beating and sexual assault. He concluded by calling on the population to go for
peace, security and tranquility and not indulge in what will hinder the country
to achieve its much talk about goals such as vision 2035. Consolidate this
peace such that the future generation can benefit from, as the saying goes “the
youths are the leaders of tomorrow”.
In
the same light, Senator Peter MafanyMosonge sounded a strong warning on those
who are doing everything to make sure that the country Cameroon is separated.
“The population of Cameroon has to effuse any attempt to reduce the country to
a banana republic. Buea has been going through trouble times for the past fifty
five years and is still going strong. The people of the SWR will never betray
the unity of this country”. To him, the president of Cameroon has made more
strides to solve the various grievances faced by the population. The much
talked about OHADA law which is only in French has been made available in
English. However, others are more complex and need more explication.
During
this event, it was made known that the government has made available two
billion FCFA to lay private schools and the recruitment of one thousand
bilingual teachers in the coming months to see into the shortage of Anglophone
teachers. To Mr. Peter Mafany, Teachers should go back to their various
classrooms because they are actually refusing these students to gain a much
desired knowledge they sought for.
Tuesday’s
gathering saw the participation of Prime Minister Philomon Yang, Governor of
the SWR, Mr. Bernard Okalia, SDO for Fako, Zang III, Senator MbellaMoki
Charles, WCPDM, YCPDM militants, other top dignitaries, sympathizers amongst others
with placards being carried by hopefuls indicating that the SW stands for peace
and indivisible Nation, Cameroon is a decentralized Unitary State.
The
event ended with a motion of support and encouragement for the head of state to
continue the numerous works he is doing and those yet to be achieve.
