In a recent communique from the Cameroonian
football federation, FECAFOOT, released on December 12, the country’s football
body made it clear that the Bamenda stadium and other stadiums will be
available by May 2017.
FECAFOOT
in a communiqué “The Executive Committee of FÉCAFOOT is pleased to note that
the construction of the stadiums in Bamenda, Bafia, Bangangté and Sangmelima is
progressing well within the framework of the FÉCAFOOT / Prime Potomac
partnership.
It
confirms FECAFOOT’s commitment to make these stadiums available latest May
2017, “reads the communiqué.
According
to the FECAFOOT President, Tombi A RokoSidiki, the stadiums that were initially
said to be realized by November this year, could not meet deadline due to some
factors.
He
did this by justifying the fact the delay observed in the construction of the
Bangangté stadium, precisely because of the opposition faced by the company in
charge of the works, of the expropriated populations who required compensation
in advance before work can commence.
The
Bamenda stadium is to have 2500 covered seats, the latest generation of
synthetic turf that allows for better evaluation of water, team dressing and
Press rooms, TV Studio, VIP Chamber, Officials room, restaurant, Olympic
running tracks and provision to handle at least seven sport disciplines.
The
project is said to cost circa FCFA 780 million.
