Kumbo Council adopts 896 billion as budget
for 2017

Councilors of Kumbo Council sitting in a
budget session on 1st December 2016 at the Council Town Hall adopted the sum of
FCFA 896,295,752in revenue as the budget for the 2017 financial year of the
council representing an increase of 11.3 % worth 91.467.150 from the 2016
budget.
Of
this ambitious amount, the operating revenue stands at 682,969,752 while
172,485,000 is investment revenue. The recurrent expenditure is 509,892,320 and
investment expenditure is 345,561,432, with personnel salaries and
remunerations representing 29.5 % of the expenditure budget.
In
the presence of Bui SDO NzekiTheophile and other heads of administration in
kumbo central sub division the councilors also adopted the updated kumbo
Council Development plan for 2017, the Mid Term Expenditure Framework for 2017
to 2019 and the Pro ADP Data.
In
his opening address, the Mayor of Kumbo Council Mayor NjongDonatusFonyuy while
justifying the reason for the projected increase in the budget said “there is a
potential for collecting more revenue in the 2017 fiscal year as aggressive
revenue collection mechanisms have been put in place to guarantee the
realization of the increased budget”.
On
the kumbo Council development plan, he was but hopeful that the implementation
of the “well diagnosed and synthesized development plan” will make the council
grow from strength to strength.
“We
hope to focus more on the realization of some major projects such as the the
continuous rehabilitation of roads, the embellishment of some urban squares and
the continuation of the improvement of the town green and the various projects
with funds from PNDP, FEICOM and others” revealed the mayor as plans for the
coming year.
As
regards the projects that have been elaborated with so far, Mayor Njong
mentioned the “Mbveh Regional Shopping Mall, the Municipal three Star Hotel,
the Potato Factory, street lightening with renewable energy, the creation of a special
Park for Heavy Duty vehicles amongst others.
“Various
funders and investors have been contacted to fund these projects and I must
assure you that there is a glimmer of hope that this will come to fruition,
even if it has to take time” he added.
During
the session too, the mayor announced that kumbo Council won for the second time
the special regional prize worth FCFA 2 million in the FEICOM National Award
for Councils Local Development Best Practices.
“We
presented the Mayors Day with aspects of social inclusion of persons with
Disabilities as a best practice when the competition was launched. It is worth
recalling that during the 2012 edition we presented the One Child one tree
project as a best Practice and still won the special regional prize for the
North West” Njong explained.
He
also revealed that they won a award of a competition launched by the
Coordinating Unit of Associations of Persons with Disabilities which was aimed
at appreciating efforts that kumbo council has put in place to enhance
inclusion of persons with disabilities likewise the selection of kumbo council
as the cleanest municipality in Bui division pending results of the regional
results.
The
SDO for Bui in his closing remarks appreciated Kumbo for their feats in
development but urged them to look into the pension situation of former workers
of the council.
