Mbonge council adopts over FCFA 1bn as 2017 budget

The Mbonge council in Meme division of the Southwest region has voted the sum of over one billion CFA as budget for the year 2017.  This sum balanced in revenue and expenditure was examined and adopted by the councilors on the occasion of the second ordinary session of the council for 2016 that took place at the council chambers on Friday 2 December 2016.
                Addressing the session, the Mayor, Chief Daniel Mata Mokambe said the session was aimed to discuss issues that would affect the municipality in the year 2017, adding that these issues touch on the social, economic and the political wellbeing of the people.
                Chief Mokambe said the world is a place of interdependence, where everyone brings to the altar a different sacrifice “Each Contribution counts as we are looking at the bigger picture,” he said.
                The mayor recalled some of his achievements in the ending year including provision of drinkable water, electricity, farm to market roads, the building of culverts, the donation of didactic materials to schools, the granting of scholarships, the building and equipping of health centres, the donation of farm inputs to farmers, the construction of markets, the construction of slaughter houses, parks etc.  In the year 2017 and beyond he promised “we shall improve on the above, invest more and do even more”.

                The second Assistant senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Yongkuma Nelson Gamsi, saluted the mayor and his councilors for organizing the session, noting that the council  plays a pivotal role in the lives of the people.
                He praised the 40% reduction in the budget vis à vis same period last year, adding that the reduction was realistic.  The SASDO advised the mayor and his councilors, to ensure that projects envisaged would impact the entire municipality.
                Before voting and adopting the budget, the Development, Infrastructure and Finance Committees presented the report of deliberations held on the eve of the session.
                The session was also attended by the southwest Regional Heads of the council support Fund FEICOM ad councils in the southwest Governor Office Buea.
                The 2017 budgetary session of the Mbonge council was held in the new council edifice constructed by FEICOM
