SCNC activists hoisted Southern Cameroons flag in Kumba |
As the Anglophone Teachers and Common Law
Lawyers strike enters the 4th and 8th week respectively, the Southern Cameroons
Flags were Monday 5th December 2016, hoisted at several vantage positions in
Kumba, The Median has gathered.
We
gathered that on the night of Sunday 4 December breaking Monday 5 December, the
flags were hoisted at Fiango 3-corners, at the main Grandstand and at Mbonge
Road Kumba.
The
identity of the persons who hoisted these flags was not known. But the sure bet
is that it is the handiwork of some Southern Cameroons activists.
SCNC
activists have often hoisted the Southern Cameroon flag on every 1st October, a
day Southern Cameroonians believe the former British colony of Southern Cameroons
gained its independence from Britain.
Some
person are of the opinion that the hoisting of the Southern Cameroons flag at
this time shows the support of SCNC activists to the ongoing Anglophone Teaches
and common Law Lawyers strike action over the marginalization of Anglophones in
Cameroon.
Among
the several flags hoisted, none attracted more attention like the one hoisted
in front of the Grandstand. The Grandstand is the lone venue for all national
official celebrations in Kumba. The
Grandstand also serves as venue for international celebrations viz;
International Labour Day every First May, International women Day March 8, etc.
The
Southern Cameroons flags were later pulled down by gendarme officers.
