Tiko Mayor, Moukondo Daniel |
The 2017 draft budget of the Tiko municipal
council stands at 1 billion 40 million FCFA balanced in expenditure and revenue
with an increase of 15 million FCFA as compared to 1 billion 25 million FCFA
budgeted in 2016 representing an increase of 1.4%. As at November 2016, money
collected had gone above 63.17% of the projected revenue. This statistics were
made known Wednesday December 28 at the Tiko council chambers.
According
to Mayor Moukondo Daniel, 2016 witnessed some difficulties such as the constant
power outages by ENEO as he termed it "bad quality" as the population
has complained bitterly as their produce gets bad all the time. He however
promised a better 2017 as more projects are in the pipeline such as
construction of culverts within the municipality, rehabilitation of earth roads,
construction of bore holes pavement of street 1, 2 and 3 of Tiko Town amongst
others.
Mayor
Moulondo Daniel went further to congratulate the council staff, councilors and
the entire Tiko population for their enormous sacrifices as despite the challenges,
the council was able to mitigate more than 95% of its projects. A called for
the councilors to shun blackmail and backstabbing to be flushed out as it has
become too common amongst them was echoed by the mayor. “All the planned
objectives for 2017 can only be achieved if councilors are in one unity as a
divided house cannot survive” Mayor Daniel
He
concluded by calling on the population and councilors to work with him as him
alone cannot achieve the projects. More needs to be done if the municipality is
to achieve its objective n that of the nation to emerged by 2035.
The
2017 draft budget of the Tiko council saw the presence of the SDO for Fako Mr.
Zang III, DO for Tiko, councilors, traditiuonal authorities, and other invited
personalities.
The
1.4% increase of the 2017 council budget to Mayor Moukondo Daniel is due to
marked projects for 2017 such as hire of a brand new 20 tons truck which will
also serve for road rehabilitation, supply of building and office equipment to
the council, rehabilitation of earth road, construction of culverts within the
municipality, utilization of stores under BOT construction in Likomba amongst
others.
