Two notorious armed bandits known for terrorizing the town of Kumba have been arrested by elements of the National Gendammerie in Fiango quarters in Kumba. The bandits whose names the security men gave as Akwo Francis Nkuta, 24, and Ambe Wilfred, 27, were caught in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and eighteen cartridges.
According to the Meme Gendarmerie Company Commander, Mbarga Benjamin, one of the bandits was apprehended as he and his colleagues were preparing to go out for their routine operation in the evening of 21 April 2017. His two colleagues escaped in to thin air.
Explaining to the Meme SDO                                                    Ntou’ouNdong Chamberlin, who visited the gang leader in his Gendarmerie cell, the 24 year old armed bandit Akwo Francis said he is a farmer in Ediki, a village near Kumba. He disclosed that he was invited by one of his friends by name Ambe James alias Jimmy, who is based in Douala and only visits Kumba to ‘operate’.
