Mama Fouda transfers leaders of Doctors’
Syndicate to enclave zones
Minister of Public Health Andre Mama Fouda |
The Minister of Public Health Andre Mama
Fouda has become the target of scathing attacks from some personnel of the
medical corps, following his recent transfer of some specialist medical doctors
from urban hospitals to enclave, less equipped hospitals in far-fetched
localities.
The
doctors transferred are mostly leaders of the Doctors’ Syndicate, who have for
some time now being instigating sit-down strikes in hospitals in the country.
Also, most of the victims of Mama Fouda’s “punitive transfer decision” are
doctors working in hospitals and hospital centers in the Northwest region,
according to an open letter addressed to the Minister by one of the doctors,
DR. Richard Moses.
In
his letter, Dr. Richard Moses is calling on the minister to not only withdraw
his decision but to also resign his office because according to him, Mama Fouda
has exhibited his intolerable limits and gross incompetence as minister of
health.
Describing
the Minister as a “weapon of mass destruction”, Dr. Richard says Mama Fouda’s
inopportune decision will have the disastrous effect of causing the death of
thousands of Cameroonians who have been deprived of their right to life and
good healthcare.
All
the doctors concerned by the minister’s decision have been asked to vacate their
former duty posts and regain their new job sites with immediate effect or face
sanctions, we learnt.
