Against the backdrop of ghost town
religiously being observed in Kumba every Monday and on other days announced by
the Anglophone consortium, the Kumba II administration has hatched a plan to
import bike riders from the West Region to beef up circulation of passengers
and their goods during ghost towns, The Median was informed.
Most
of the commercial Moto-bikes (Okadas) circulating in Kumba are owned by
residents of Kumba II, most of whom originate from the West Region.
We
have gathered that with ghost town being respected every Monday in Kumba, the
Kumba II DO, who is from the West region is mooting plans to hire commercial motocycle
riders from his region of origin to come ply in Kumba every Monday to mitigate
the effect of the ghost towns on the population by transporting passengers and
their goods from one part of the town to the other.
It
is not the first time the DO of Kumba II has tried to mitigate the effect of
the ghost town on the Kumba population.
It
is widely believed that most of the okadas that ply the streets of Kumba during
ghost town days are those protected by the DO.
It
is believed that this move by the Kumba II DO is highly applauded by the Dos of
the other subdivisions in Kumba, who are also contemplating strategies to curb
ghost towns in their areas of command.
