The Cameroon Cricket Federation on Saturday 17 February, launched the 2018 Cricket season with a Cricket Bonanza for school children, at the Playground of Mervick Bilingual High School in Yaounde.
The youth week activity saw the massive participation of students from some ten (10) private and secondary schools in Yaounde.
It featured inter-schools cricket completions, training seminar/workshops on different aspects of the game of cricket, distribution of cricket equipment to the schools and award of prizes among others.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the President of Fecacricket, Victor Agbor Nso, said the Federation decided to organize the 2018 bonanza during the youth week because it wanted youth cricketers and not their adult counterparts, to be actors of the season launch.

Victor Agbor enjoined the young cricketers to play cricket with enthusiasm and seriousness, reminding them that the federation had prepared beautiful prizes for those who will distinguish themselves in different aspects of cricket including batting, bowling fielding etc.
The Fecacricket president used the occasion to announce major projects in perspective for the Federation this year. He mentioned apart from the 2018 Joint Domestic League/Cup of Cameroon, the participation in the Men’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cricket, in Lagos, in April, organized by the Africa Cricket Association and also participation of the Women’s National Cricket Team in the NW Africa Cricket Tourney in Mali.
The kick-off for the competition was taken by the delegate of sports and physical education for the centre, who advised the young cricketers to take the sport seriously so that in future they can become the indomitable lions and why not the Roger Milla’s and Eto’o Fils’ of Cricket.
