L-R: SW SDF Regional Chairman Mike Ndobagang, new Konye SDF District Chairman, Hon Mbah Ndam and new organisng secretary for Konye |
The leadership crisis that has rocked the SDF party in Konye
subdivision for some time now might have been laid to rest, following the
election and installation of a new team to pilot the affairs of the party in
the Konye electoral district.
The
election on Sunday 28 January 2017 saw Barrister Ilambo Godlove Ebako, voted as
the new Konye SDF District Chairman. He will be assisted by Motoumba John as
the Secretary, Ameh Maurice Ngwa as the organizing secretary and Barrister
Njoro as the legal adviser.
The
election was supervised by Hon. Mbah Ndam and witnessed by the SW SDF Chairman,
Forcha Ndobengang Martin and SDF MP for Kumba Urban, Hon. Mbanya Bolivie
amongst other party kingpins and militants.
Reacting
on his election, Barrister Ilambo Godlove told reporters that he will do all in
his power to butt out the CPDM from the Konye council.
“I am a
bona fide Konye child and one of the elite of the Bakundu clan. I have come to
take my people out of the CPDM bondage and what I know is that our party the
SDF is going to stand tall in whatsoever democratic process that we participate
in this year. By this I mean victory is ours,” Barr. Ilambo told militants.
Quizzed
if the SDF party has what it takes to oust a CDPM Mayor who has been hailed for
development strides by the population, the politician cum legal luminary
stated: “I don’t talk about other people, I talk about myself and what I can do
because whatever the sitting Mayor has done, I will do it ten times,” Ilambo
boasted, adding that the CPDM has always won the SDF in Konye with a very slim
margin because of poor coordination and leadership problems. He promised that
such political shyness and leadership squabbles will be a thing of the past
under his reign.
The new
Konye SDF chairman said strategies to take over Konye council from the CPDM had
since been laid down.
“We had
already reorganized the party here since over a year ago. We divided the Konye
electoral district into three zones: the Northern zone starting from Nkumbe,
Itoki, Mbu and Kokobuma, Wone, Dipenda, Koba and the rest under me; the central
zone from Supe to Ikiliwindi under Barrister Njoro, and the Matoh zone under
Dr. Ayuk Kelias,” Ilambo explained.
Quizzed
if he isn’t afraid to step on the toes of other Bakundu elites or consider
himself as an outsider in the Bakundu Cultural and Development Union, BACDU,
headed by a CPDM bigwig, the young, vibrant and energetic Ilambo noted that
BACDA by virtue of its constitution is supposed to be apolitical.
With
the poor management of the ongoing sociopolitical crisis in the Northwest and
Southwest regions, political bookmakers say the CPDM may have a very difficult
run in upcoming elections in this part of the country.
