Ambazonia Vipers on Killing Spree:

One Gendarme Killed, Two Seriously Injured in K’ba
-Sporadic attacks at Meme SDO’s Office, several quarters in Kumba, Banga Bakundu
By Doh Bertrand Nua in Kumba
Fresh gun battles between separatist fighters and government forces in Kumba have led to the death of a Gendarmerie officer, while two others were seriously injured. The casualties were the result of military reprisals on unknown assailants who orchestrated attacks on the Meme SDO’s Office and in some quarters in Kumba last week.
Throughout the night of Thursday 15 breaking Friday 16 February 2018, gun shots were heard in different areas of Kumba. The first shots were heard around GRA Up-Station where the SDO’s Office was reportedly attacked by the gunmen.
We learned that here, some Amba vipers carrying machetes who entered the SDO’s residence probably with the aim to either behead or abduct the administrator, were intercepted by military men on guard who had taken refuge at the upper part of the building. Noticing the presence of the invaders, the military men descended on the ground floor firing shots in the air. This scared the invaders who fled away.
Reports have it that as the SDO’s office was being attacked, another group of fighters were engaging a serious gun battle with military officers at Kosala quarters in Kumba II municipality. The gunfire exchange lasted close to three hours, we were told.
Residents said the military officers succeeded to push back the assailants who ran into the bushes leaving behind their motorbikes, which were confiscated by the soldiers.

The population of Kumba woke up Friday to news of the brutal murder of a student Gendarme named Menge Olinga Joel and the injuring of a police inspector by name Elunu Ebunde. Reports said the student Gendarme in his early 20s is of Bulu origin was supposed to graduate from the Gendarmerie school this February 19.
As the story goes, the Gendarme was on duty at a control post at Kake with his colleagues, when he decided to take-off his gun-proof jacket because too much heat. He later excused himself and retired to their hideout beside the control post to charge his phone. But little did he know he was being monitored by Amba vipers, who had taken positions on the ground. Whilst in the hideout the cadet gendarme was attacked by the invaders and stabbed on his throat with a knife.
We learnt the brave soldier fought fiercely with the attackers who tried to dispossess him of his gun. In the course of the struggle his gun discharged accidentally, alerting his colleagues, who only came to his rescue when it was late. He was already fatally wounded and his assailants had escaped into thin air.
For his part, the injured police inspector was hit on the leg by a bullet shot as he was rushing to rescue the young gendarme, we learned.
Earlier in the week, another serious gun battle between Amba vipers and Gendarmerie officers was reported at Banga Bakundu, a village town situated along the Kumba-Buea highway. The attack left one Gendarmerie officer seriously wounded, we were told.
Before getting confirmation from administrative authorities that no deaths were recorded in the attack, it was already on social media that two Gendarmes were killed and two others kidnapped.
