Bertrand Nua in Kumba
Late Ejolle Patrick, Head Teacher GS Etam I |
The mortal
remains of the recently abducted, killed and roasted head teacher of Government
Primary School Group I, Etam I village, Ejolle Patrick has been buried by
family members in Kumba. The burial took place on Thursday February 21, 2018,
one day after his lifeless body was found in a bush along the Kumba-Tombel
Reunification stretch of road.
We gathered from investigations that
his remains was found in a rubber farm few metres into Etam I village where he
was heading for a staff pedagogic meeting on Wednesday February 21. Reports
have it that late EjollePartrick was forced off a commercial motorbike he had
board on his way to Etam I along the way to an unknown destination into the
bush. The assailants are said to have informed Ejolle’s wife through a phone
call shortly after his abduction, threatening they might end up killing him.
In an attempt to search for abducted
Ejolle, we learnt from family sources that they only stumbled on his mutilated
and burnt remains in the bush. It was revealed that Ejolle’s corpse was
discovered alongside that of another person whose identity we couldn’t confirm.
Our family sources also revealed
they made calls to the Divisional Officer for Tombel when they got news of his
abduction and he promised sending military officers to the area for immediate
intervention. It however disclosed that the two bodies were later transferred
and displayed and the EtamI Chief’s palace.
Ejolle’s demise comes barely a month
after his school was burnt to ashes by unidentified persons. Family sources
revealed that ever since the school was burnt their Ejolle had being under
serious death threats from unknown persons. Ejolle’s murder also comes barely
days after the Etam I one Chief’s palace was burnt down to ashes by irate
youths after reported hostilities in the area earlier on in the week between
military officers and separatists fighters.
Ejolle
defies family caution
According to family sources, Ejolle
was cautioned to absent from the pedagogic meeting or better still but he
vehemently refused to listen. He was as well advised to use the Kumba railway
line that goes to Mbanya before travelling to Loum and then Tombel to Etam I
but it appears he wave away all the advised. Such caution is said to have been
given following a terrible dream members of the family had on Tuesday breaking
Wednesday that he was supposed to travel.
It is still unclear why Ejolle later
ignored all the advice and decided to hit the road on a motorbike. It is
speculated however that the assailants must have traced his movement from Kumba
before forcing him off the motorbike along the road into a rubber farm where he
was murdered.
Late Ejolle Patrick who is said to
have been close to his retirement from service was transferred to GS Etam I
after serving in the same capacity in Kumba at GS KumbaMbeng. He leaves behind
a wife, six children, relatives, colleagues and friends to mourn him.
