696 Teachers Graduate from HTTTC Kumba

The Higher Technical Teachers Training College, HTTTC Kumba
has recently sent out 696 teachers. This was during the convocation ceremony at
the Kumba Amusement Park on February 3, 2018 presided over by the
Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Ako Oben Edward deputizing for the Minister of higher
Education.
In his
address to the graduates comprising both the first and second cycle teachers he
urged all and sundry to uphold the values of technical education, be
professional in all they do and to be true ambassadors of peace and unity.
Prof.
Ako Oben also told his hearers comprising of all the who is who of the
University of Buea who had turned out for the convocation ceremony, Meme
elites, MPs, Senators, Meme administration and the population that government
has set aside a huge investment package in the University’s 2018 budget for the
construction of the permanent site of the HTTTC Kumba at Mambanda and Mukonje
respectively. He harped on the importance government attaches to the training
of technical school teachers in all its disciplines.
On his
part the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga
noted that the creation of the HTTTC Kumba will in no distant time help close
the gap that the country faces in the domain of technical education. He
stressed that the 696 teachers have all undergone the rigorous training and are
ripe for the job market.
Dr.
Churchill Monono invited as guest speaker to the event in an elaborate
presented drilled and inspired the students on various means through which they
can make their mark in the teaching profession and change the lives of many as
well as the nation. The event was punctuated with lots of traditional dances
and signing.
Prior
to the convocation ceremony was the matriculation ceremony of the newly
admitted student teachers. In the occasion, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Horace
Ngomo Manga cautioned the newly admitted to shun social distractions from the
town of Kumba and take studies serious. He also pleaded on the population of
Kumba to be hospitable to the students who he revealed are making their first
stay in Kumba as the institution looks forward to construction of student
residential areas in the future.
