Buea Varsity Adopts FCFA 12bn as Budget for 2018

The University of Buea has adopted the sum of FCFA 12,258,136,631 (twelve billion, two hundred and fifty-eight million, one hundred and thirty-six thousand, six hundred and thirty-one francs CFA) as its budget for the 2018 financial year, representing an increase of 9.17% to previous budget. The budget was adopted last Monday 5 February, during the 34th meeting of the University Council.
                Speaking to the press after the in camera meeting, Prof. Oben Ako said the budget increase will help the University to effectively carry out its missions.
                “The budget puts emphasis on developing new infrastructure and ensuring that there are adequate equipment in the various faculties and schools. 
                Prof. Oben Ako said measures have been put in place to see to it that new structures are erected.
                “Monies have been made available for the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms in order to permit the administration to carry out its work. There is also money for the construction of permanent buildings for the HTTTC Kumba and the new Faculty of Law and Political Science”.

                The Pro-Chancellor called on the students, lecturers and the administration to work hand in hand to see to it that the University of Buea continues to be ‘the Place to be’.
                The council meeting afforded opportunity for Professor Edward Oben Ako to be congratulated by the University Community on his appointment as pro-chancellor and chairman of council. 
                The council also applauded the VC and his collaborators for the enormous work they are doing to keep the University’s flag flying high.
                In the end the council endorsed the advancement and promotion of 80 teachers.
