VC of UB, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga poses with newly appointed officials |
Some 6 newly appointed officials at the University of Buea
have been installed into their functions by the Vice-chancellor of the
University, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga.
Installing
the officials last Tuesday 6 February at the Amphi-theatre 750 of the
University, Ngomo Horace called on them to use their competence and correct
weaknesses in their respective areas of concern.
“You
are expected to come in with new ambitions to improve on what you will meet.
The University community is waiting to see added impetus because we know you
are coming in in with a lot of experience to your respective positions.”
With
respect to the newly created Faculty of Law and Political Science, Prof. Ngomo
Horace noted: “What we have now is an administrative split and not a political
one. We expect that you will expand on the number of courses and ensure that
there are more specialization courses”.
A word
of gratitude was extended to the outgoing officials for the invaluable
contributions and making UB continue to be the place to be. In his closing
remark, prof. Ngomo Horace called on those installed to uphold UB’s commitment
of excellence which revolves around teaching, research and outreach which can
only be possible if there is respect for norms and transparency.
On his
part, the new Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Prof.
Emmanuel Yenshu, said “we have to work very hard because there are definitely
new things we have to learn as we are entering a new office. But I am prepared
to run the faculty and make sure that students study, take their exams in time
and at the end they can graduate.”
To the
new Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, Dr. Atangcho Nji, the
appointment comes with a lot of challenges. So we have to work hard to make the
faculty functional so as to project the image of UB. Hard work is of the
essence and that is what I intend to bring to this faculty”.
Others
who were also installed during last solemn ceremony included the Dean of the
Faculty of Education, Dr. Agbor Bechem Tambi; the Director of ASTI, Dr. Ndeffo
Tene Alexandre; the DVC/RCB Professor Martha Tumnde and the DVC/TIC, Prof.
Fonkeng Epah George.
