Limbe Nursing School Graduates 116 |
Some 116 graduates from the Limbe Nursing Schools have been
called upon to respond to duty, be able to access patient’s needs and be
accountable to patients, the health institution and the society. The call was
made by the representative of the regional delegate of public health, Njie
Essasa Ernest, Chief of bureau for the Regional Training Office for Health
Personnel South West, on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of 43
Assistant Laboratory Technicians (SAIT), 39 Assistant Nurses (NAS) and 34 State
Registered Nurses (SRN) at the campus hall on Friday November 30 2018.
He
urged the graduates to be honest and be committed saying that they are the
chosen generation that will change the health profession and withstand
challenges as far as health care is concerned. He said Nursing is a calling
which means a nurse must have love for mankind. He urged the laureates to be
humble, ready to learn and to eschew illegal practices like smuggling of drugs.
He reminded them that the medical profession is not all about money but the joy
to see a patient regain his health.
He said
the training offered at the school has not been easy due to the current
socio-economic situation of the country. He thanked the staff for braving the
odds to educate the students and the health institutions for opening their
doors the students for practical work. He stressed the need to improve on the
infrastructure of the institution as well as strengthen the staff.
In an
academic discourse that was delivered, the speaker encouraged the students to
stay true to themselves and their profession. He urged the new nurses to put
patients’ satisfaction before all else.
Speaking
on behalf of the students, one of the graduating nurses, Ngeh Divine, hailed
the teachers for empowering them. He called on the government to renovate the
institution and review the fees schedule.
On her
part, the Director of the school congratulated the graduates for their
excellence and them to keep the flag of the institution flying wherever they
go.
Prizes
were awarded to meritorious students and staff for excellence.
