The Kumba District Hospital has benefitted medical equipment
estimated at over FCFA 300 million to boost its equipment pool, effectiveness
and increase the wellbeing of patients. The medical equipment were officially
handed to the Kumba District hospital in the presence of the Meme
administration and the hospital management board Wednesday November 21, 2018.
The donation is a goodwill gesture of the Meme sons living in Atlanta under
their group dubbed the Association of K-Town Boys in Atlanta.
Speaking
earlier at the reception ceremony, Dr Tchakounte Awala Sandrine Espe Mve
Biwole, the Director of the Kumba District hospital, lauded the initiative of
the K-Town boys in Atlanta for thinking about the wellbeing of their people
back home.
Dr.
Tchakoute noted that the equipment which comprises ECG monitors, Electrode ECG,
Ultra/Radiolucent Electrode, Dressing kits, Beds, Mattresses, Blankets, Blood
Collection sets, Circumcision Trays, Drape pack, C-Section pack, Examination
Gloves, Operation lamp and many others will not only ease the scanning and screaming process of illnesses but will
also help better the services offered by the hospital.
She
also used the occasion to appeal to other sons and daughters of Kumba living in
the Diaspora to emulate the examples of K.Town boys in Atlanta and do similar
donations to the hospital in domains that will especially with equipment such
as; a standby generator of about 200Kva, an operating table, anesthetic table,
autoclaves etc that the hospital is badly in need of further boost its
equipment pool and better their services.
On his
part, the Chairman of the hospital’s management committee who doubles as
Government Delegate to the Kumba City council, Ngoh Nkelle Victor, immensely
expressed gratitude to the donors adding that their gesture will forever remain
in the history of the hospital’s records.
Ngoh
Nkelle recounted that despite the challenges that the donors encountered from
the purchase to transportation and payment of custom duties, their willingness
to see into it that their community back home is better up in the domain of
health care didn’t let them down. While praying for more equipment from the
donors in the future, Ngoh Nkelle revealed that, the beds, mattresses and other
equipment are already being enjoyed by the patients in the hospital. He called
on other Kumba sons and daughters to copy the example of K.Town boys in Atlanta
and do more donations to the community.
The
ceremony was under the watchful eyes of Meme SDO, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong who
used the occasion to urge all the hospital personnel to handle the equipment
with so much care and with the fear of God. He warned all hospital workers
against carrying the equipment to other areas to do works for their private
interest. The event was animated by singing and traditional dance groups and
ended with a guided tour of the SDO round the hospital.
