Division gets first ever Tourism Delegate

After 55 years of its creation in 1962,
Meme Division of the Southwest region can now boast of a Divisional Delegate of
Tourism and Leisure. The Pioneer Delegate of Tourism, Mrs. ZoboAwonoMarlyne was
appointed by the Minister of Tourism and Leisure through decision No
003/MINTOURL of January 11, 2017.
She
was commissioned to her functions with a call to brave the challenges that lie
ahead as well as develop the tourist potentials of Meme division.
MrsZobo
is also expected to educate the stakeholders of the Tourism sector and carry
out controls as well as enhance and bring to the lime light the rich tourist
potentials in the Division.
The
Second Assistant SDO for Meme, Nelson YongkumaGamsi challenged the new tourism
delegate to live up to the tasks assigned her, as he installed her into her
functions on Friday 17 February 2017, at the Kumba city Council hall.
The
Second Assistant SDO urged the new Delegate to be conversant with all basic
laws and regulations in the domain of tourism and leisure; make sure the
organizational chart of the Ministry is put in place and functional; educate
the various stakeholders in the tourism and leisure sector on the existing
rules and regulations; carryout controls to ensure that tourism and leisure
establishments operate within the ambit of the law; and supervise the creation
and proper functioning of tourism offices in the councils.
Mrs.
ZoboAwono was equally reminded to oversee the coordination of services, ensure punctuality,
assiduity, sense of duty and respect of hierarchy amongst the staff, as well as
ensure a proper management of human and financial resources placed at her
disposal.
MrsZoboAwono
becomes Tourism Delegate for Meme after having served in the Division for four
years. She is expected among other things to take an inventory of the 53
lodging establishments, restaurants, leisure establishments, tourist and travel
agencies, tourist sites such as Lake BarombiMbo, Lake BarombiKotto, LakeDisone
in Mbonge Sub-Division, Ekombe waterfall among others.
MrsZoboAwonoMarlyseepseAwono
was born on 1st July 1978 at Nkambibam II in Monatele, in Lekie Division of the
Centre Region. A graduate of the University of Yaounde-I, she has served in the
Ministry of Tourism and Leisure since 2001 in various capacities. She was the
coordinator of tourism and leisure services in Meme Division until her recent
appointment.
She
is married and mother of four children.
