The governor of the SW region, Bernard OkaliaBilai has said that parents in the region can be charged with educational genocide by virtue of their refusal to send their children to school.
The governor was speaking in Kumba while installing the new SDO for Meme division Ntou’ouNdong Chamberlain, on Thursday 23 March 2017.
Speaking on the occasion, OkaliaBilai said it is the duty of parents to give their children good education so that they can be equipped to embrace life in future. He therefore urged the new SDO to ensure that schools resume fully today Monday 27 March 2017 throughout the division.
Okalia also used the occasion to condemn the burning down of schools and other public property by some misguided and diabolic individuals.

“How can we explain that because some persons hold different political opinions, parents deliberately refuse to send their children to school?” The governor asked rhetorically, nothing that because education is a fundamental right for children, this behavior of parents is criminal and only helps to jeopardise development.
The new Meme SDO, Ntou’ouNdong Chamberlain was appointed by a presidential decree. He replaces KoulboutAman David who had been moved to the Dja and Lobo Division, following the sudden destitution of the SDO of that division.
Installing the new SDO, Governor Okalia remarked: “Kumba is a town replete with young criminals and a junction town that needs careful and tactful handling.” He challenged Ntou’ouNdong to be vigilant, check influx of arms, contraband goods, guard against smuggling of fake drugs, resolve chieftaincy disputes, ensure effective follow-up of projects, pay strict attention to the eminent construction of the Kumba-Ekondo-Titi-Mundemba-Esangele road amongst sundry challenges that await him as SDO.
Bernard Okala also instructed the new Meme boss to pay particular attention to the activities of municipal authorities and to resist any temptation to collaborate with politicians to slow down development of the division for whatever reason.
Chief Executive officer for Southwest congratulated the out gone         SDO for his achievements in the division as longest serving SDO since the creation of the division. He noted that for six years in power as SDO, KoulboutAman David fought against theft, criminality and ensured preservation of peace. To him, the out gone SDO demonstrated a high sense of maturity in handling crisis, tension and land disputes especially his enormous role in choosing the permanent site of the HTTTC Kumba amongst others.
On his part the government delegate to the Kumba city Council, lauded the unique style of KoulboutAman David in managing affairs in the division for six years. While welcoming the new SDO, the government delegate challenged him to ensure school resumption as well as fight against the continuous existence of illicit fuel on the streets in Kumba.
The installation ritual was witnessed by a massive presence of elites of the division and the population of Kumba. It was graced by performances from dance groups.
The new SDO for Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou’ouNdong was born on December 15, 1977 at Olang in the Centre region. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Yaounde II, Soa and a Civil Administration diploma from ENAM, Yaounde in 2006.
Before his appointment, Ntou’ouNdong was the SDO of Ndian Division also in the SW region.
