Lionel Messi has become just the second player ever to
score 100 goals in UEFA's premier competition after Cristiano Ronaldo
The world will be a worse place when Lionel Messi has
hung up his football boots. For now we can continue to bask in his glory and
all the records and landmarks he has reached, with yet another checked off
tonight.
Messi
had already scored over 500 goals for Barca, becoming their leading scorer of
all time and has scored more than 600 goals in his career amongst many other
records.
He
finished the Group Stages this season on 97 goals in the competition and
grabbed his 98th in the first leg of the second round against Chelsea, away at
Stamford Bridge.
It took
him just two minutes of the second leg for him to add to the tally, scoring the
99th. And, having set up Ousmane Dembele for the second, he struck in the 64th
minute for his second of the night, making it 3-0 and giving him his 100th
Champions League goal.
