CPDM Holds Spectacular Rally In B’da

By Nestor Ndjodzefe
CPDM Scribe Jean Kuete welcomed at Santa, Bamenda
Militants, sympathizers and supporters of the CPDM turned out in their numbers at the Bamenda Congress Hall to welcome Jean Nkuete, President of the National Campaign Supervision Commission for candidate Paul Biya.
They defied threats from pro independence fighters and in song and dance hailed CPDM candidate Paul Biya while promising him their votes come Sunday October 7.
Jean Nkuete was in Bamenda to give a booster to the CPDM campaigns in the region. Campaigns in the region were launched on September 22, 2018 by the Chair of the Regional Campaign Coordination Commission for the North West, Philemon Yang and since then, the party’s bigwigs have been in the field using all strategies to woo voters.
At Matazen, gateway into the region,  militants from Mezam IA,  Mezam II and the Mezam Divisional Campaign Coordination Commission,  led by its Head,  Minister Felix Mbayu welcomed the scribe of the party.  The population handed a peace plant to the Secretary General of the Central Committee, a demonstration of their comment to preserving peace in region.
While addressing the hundreds of militants who had turned out at the Bamenda Congress Hall, Jean Nkuete, congratulated the population for their resilience in the midst of the ongoing crises which he said had been forced on them by the so called “liberators of Anglophones”.
He mockingly regretted that other candidates have avoided and abandoned the people of the North West in times of difficulties and have preferred only media outings and less tense areas.  Few days to the end of campaign, a candidate of the opposition is yet to visit the region.
Earlier, the Chair of the Regional Campaign Coordination Commission for the North West, Philemon Yang updated the Secretary General on the efforts of the militants in canvassing for votes for candidate Paul Biya.

7 Oct. Presidential:

Felix Mbayu Delivers Mezam to Paul Biya
By Nestor Ndjodzefe
Felix Mbayu welcoming Jean Nkuete to Mezam, Birth place of the CPDM
Since the official launch of the campaigns in the North West region, supporters and sympathizers of the CPDM party in Mezam under the leadership of Felix Mbayu, Divisional Coordinator of the 2018 Presidential Election Campaigns for Mezam division have constantly been in the field and have prioritized door to door and mouth to ear campaign strategies to woo voters.
Felix Mbayu and his team are upbeat that Paul Biya is the only candidate that can help address the current crisis rocking the two Anglophone regions and that he is a comprehensive insurance for living together, development and stability.
While installing the Mezam divisional team made up of Mezam 1a, 1b, 1c, Mezam II Section and Mezam III Sections of the ruling party the CPDM, Felix Mbayu, noted that that as the founding division of the CPDM party, the population had had an obligation to the party.
“The CPDM was founded here in the North West Region. The President has come to Mezam so many times. The people of Mezam, asked for University, he has given them one of the best Universities. So, he is our candidate, he should be our candidate, particularly at these challenging times.” He noted.

October Presidential:

Biya Cancels Planned Visit to Buea
President Paul Biya, the CPDM candidate for the 7 October presidential election, has cancelled a planned campaign trip to Buea in the SW region, leaving his followers in the region confused and downcast.
The Etoudi Palace tenant was expected in Buea Wednesday, but he changed his mind and stayed back in Yaounde, even as all had been put in place to give him a befitting welcome.
It is not immediately known why the president decided to cancel the trip. But it is understood that there were not enough security guarantees as to permit the 85-year old to take the risk.
Apart from security concerns, there were no indications the local populations were upbeat to give the president the expected popular and enthusiastic welcome that he normally deserves.
President Biya has always enjoyed a popular reception in the SW Capital since taking over power in November 1982. But, there were no assurances he would have a similar welcome this time. The socio-political crisis that has been rocking the SW and NW regions for the past two years and which has caused the bulk of the population to flee to the bushes or to safer areas in French Cameroon or neighboring Nigeria could not be undermined. And the separatists had warned that the President will undertake the trip at his own peril.
But commentators are of the opinion that the president should have made the trip, no matter what.

Braving the Odds:

Elung Paul Rallies Kupe Muanenguba to Biya
The ASG of the Presidency used two popular rallies in Bangem and Tombel at the weekend to convince his brethren of Kupe Muanenguba division to vote for candidate Paul Biya, whom he described as the best bet

Minister Elung Paul addressing CPDM supporters in Bangem
As Cameroonians go to the polls to elect a new president on Sunday 7 October, the people of Kupe Muanenguba division in the SW region have taken a commitment to cast their votes solely for incumbent president Paul Biya.
Militants of the CPDM in Kupe Muanenguba took the commitment during two campaign rallies that were held in Bangem and Tombel, on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Presided over by the Minister, Assistant SG of the presidency, Elung Paul Che, who doubles as the Vice President of the CPDM coordination committee for Presidential campaigns in Kupe Muanenguba, the meetings brought together internal and external elite of the ruling CPDM party in Kupe Muanenguba, as well as grassroots militants and sympathizers of the party.
Notable among those who braved the odds and attended the rallies were the former minister of forestry and wildlife, Ngole Philip Ngwese. There were also MPs, Mayors, the AGMs of IRAD and SODECAO, the technical adviser at the CRTV – Dr. George Ewane  Ngide, Directors among others.

Firm Rebuttal:

Why the fuss over Kupe Muanenguba?
Some evil-doers have lost sleep as the current is flowing between Elung Paul and Ngole Philip
The social media has once again been flooded with lies and half truths about political activities in Kupe Muanenguba division. There seem to be a sort of smear campaign against all efforts made by some concerned sons and daughters of this division to improve the situation on the ground. The question is, why all the fuss? A most recent case circulating on social media since this weekend purports that Minister ELUNG Paul and the CPDM campaign team heading to Bangem last Saturday 29 September was attacked and prevented from getting to Bangem.
This perfidious claim even holds that the Minister’s convoy was ambushed and attacked, that members of his delegation suffered from wounds resulting from gunshots and that some soldiers lost their lives in the attack. In fact, some versions even insist the meeting in Bangem flopped. Lies!
Both meetings of Bangem and Tombel were a huge success, current security challenges notwithstanding. The fact of the matter is that some manipulated persons fell a tree across the road some 16km to Bangem. The campaign team was informed well ahead of time by some concerned youths. The military was helpful in dislodging the obstacle and enabling fluidity of movement. Note that the campaign team was never attacked not even with a pebble; neither in Bangem nor in Tombel next day Sunday 30th. The delegation to Bangem never came into contact with the said fighters, no gun exchange and no incident worthy of note came up. Both meetings were very successful as some militants and well wishers of the CPDM party came out to show their unrelenting support for President Paul Biya.

Mafany Musonge calling on SW CPDM militants to renew confidence in  President Biya on October 7

With just three days to the 2018 presidential election, CPDM supporters in the SW are leaving nothing to chance as they prepare the grounds for a sweeping victory for their candidate in the region.
A mega rally holding at the Bongo’s Square in Buea, on Wednesday, 3 October, brought together party bigwigs and grassroots militants from far and near to drum up support for candidate Paul Biya. The rally witnessed the presence of a representative from the CPDM Central Committee, Thomas Tobbo Eyoum.
Welcoming the delegates, the Mayor of Buea, Patrick Ekema Esunge called on President Biya to pardon his brothers and sisters who have demonstrated deviant behavior in the ongoing Anglophone crisis.
“As the biblical father did to his prodigal son, we pray President Biya to find peace in his heart and forgive our brothers,” Patrick Ekema prayed, calling on the population to call back their family members in activist groups in bushes and those who have been internally displaced to come back and join the family fold.

The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ahmad Ahmad assured that Cameroon will host 2019 African Cup of Nations (Afcon). This assurance has put to rest romours which made rounds that CAF was considering withdrawing Cameroon’s hosting rights.
Ahmad, who met Cameroon’s president Paul Biya on Tuesday said the continental football governing body has no alternative plans for tournament hosts despite persistent fears that the 24-team competition could be moved to Morocco.
“CAF has never considered withdrawing Afcon from Cameroon,” Ahmad told reporters after meeting with President Paul Biya on Tuesday October 2, 2018.
The Caf president was accompanied by his second vice president, Constant Omari, Cameroon’s normalisation committee President Deuidonne Happi and Cameroon football legend Samuel Eto’o and was received on arrival by the Cameroon minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt.
Afcon 2019 is scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon but last week, CAF said it will only decide on Cameroon’s ability to host the competition after the presidential election in the country. However, Ahmad said the decision to host the competition or not rests with Cameroon.
