The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, has donated the sum of FCFA 545.684.295 million for the tarring of some two streets in the city of Kumba, chief town of Meme Division. The two streets stretch from the CPDM hall junction to the Residence of the SDO for Meme measuring some 3.125km and the street from RTC junction at Buea road to Bonakama measuring 1.150km.
The announcement of the financial allocation is contained in a MINEPAT release No. 005345/L/MINEPAT/SG/DGPAT/ENF of 10th August following an audience the Minister granted the Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council, Victor NgohNkelle and the Meme SDO, Ntou’ouNdong Chamberlin, concerning the poor state of roads in Kumba.
According to the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, the Government Delegate should do all to contact the Divisional Delegate of Urban Development and Housing who is the competent authority to fix the distances of the roads to be rehabilitated.
Minister Louis Paul Motaze allocated FCFA 366 968 025 for the construction of the road from the CPDM hall to the SDO’s Residence; FCFA 166 716 270 for the follow up of the works; FCFA 36 000 000 for the road from RTC junction to Bonakama and FCFA 16 000 000 for the follow up of the work.

The construction of the two stretches of road will save the population the stress they usually went through to get to the GRA that hosts the administrative headquarters of the division.
Before the news of the allocation was made public, the Meme SDO had forced the Kumba Government Delegate to and the mayors of the three councils in Kumba to carryout repair works on potholes on the road network in the city. It is needless to mention that some of the potholes along the streets of Kumba have caused many fatal accidents claiming the lives of many.
