The South West Elite Association


“South West Elite Association (SWELA): the political elite, business elite. academic elite, administrative elite, opinion leaders, civil society leaders and socio-cultural groups leaders, meeting in Limbe on Saturday the 5th of January 2019 hereby declares as follows:
-              Mindful of the Head of State, President Paul Biya’s unflinching resolve to translate his vision and agenda of taking Cameroon to emergence, an ambition which makes peace an imperative prerequisite;
-              Considering the recent creation of the National Commission on disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration, aimed at restoring peace and security in the troubled regions of the country as a necessary condition for our attainment of emergence;
-              Cognizant of the Head of State’s strong attachment to the South West region as exemplified in the regular empowerment of the sons and daughters of the region and the infrastrural development of the South West;
-              Mindful in particular of Decree No 2019/001 of 4th January 2019 appointing Dr. Chief Joseph Dion Ngute as Prime Minister, Head of Government, of the Republic of Cameroon
-              Considering also the recent multi-billion tenders aimed at revamping the Limbe Shipyard Project in Limbe and the expected economic spill-off for the region;


Hereby:
-              Heartily express our profound and sincere thanks to the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, for the appointment of Dr. Chief Joseph Dion Nigute as Prime Minister, Head of Government;
-              Reaffirm our total attachment and loyalty to him and the institutions he incarnates;
-              Reiterate our strong commitment to a one united, indivisible, peaceful and prosperous Cameroon;
-              Pledge our total and unreserved support for his peace initiatives and ail other measures he may put in place to restore order and serenity in the troubled regions of our beloved country;
-              Call for the resuscitation of the on-going infrastructural development projects in the South West region interrupted by the on-going socio-political unrest.
-              Pray God Almighty to grant his wisdom, good health and fortitude in the execution of his onerous functions.”
