The new Chairman of the Meme Divisional Participatory
Follow-up Committee for the execution of public investment projects has
revealed that only contractors who can brave the current socio-political
tension and security concerns in Meme will be awarded contracts in the
Division.
Senator Andrew Otte Mofa made the revelation on Friday
April 13, 2018 while chairing deliberations at the first quarterly follow-up
meeting for the execution of projects in the Division for the year 2018.
“Only
those who master the local political situation of the various villages, can
brave the storm and who have proven their worth in contract execution will be
awarded contracts in Meme,” Otte Mofa said, while praying Gods to intervene and
save development projects in Meme.
The
Questor of the last senate called for a change in the mind-sets and attitudes
of all stakeholders in PIB projects execution while cautioning the population
to be receptive to contractors.
“If we
keep on chasing contractors we will be at the losing end. These projects are
hard earned national cakes given to us and we should be able to consume them
well,” Otte advised, at once warning contractors to avoid abandoning projects.
Reacting
to his recent appointed as chairman of the committee to follow-up projects in
Meme, Otte Mofa thanked the population of Meme for bestowing their confidence
in him. He boasted that he loves serving his people and this new position will
help him to serve them with love and vision.
For his
part, the Meme Divisional Delegate for the Economy, Planning and Regional
Development, MINEPAT, Ignatius Moma Anyere, noted that the project execution
rates in all the council areas have improved when compared with the last
evaluation that was done in January. He pleaded on the officials to all be development-oriented
in order to give back to the community the much-needed development that will
change their living standards.
The
meeting took place under the watchful eyes of the First Assistant SDO for Meme,
Njuime Joseph, who appreciated the maturity that the stakeholders demonstrated
during the deliberations. He called for a continuous improvement on the level
of project execution in order for much needed development to come to Meme.
