Role Model

Muluh Hilda Bih:Broadcasting with Passion on a Wheel-Chair
Muluh Hilda Bih
Despite being physically disabled and almost permanently wheel-chair bound, Hilda Bih is unarguably one of the most talented radio broadcasters at CRTV.
Muluh Hilda Bih is synoymous to hope. Her physical disability aside, this pretty-faced lady has capitalised on her charming voice and is today a star broadcaster at CRTV radio.
Telling her own story, Hilda says she would have loved to become a medic or a pilot, but her physical disability stood on her way, in spite of her intellectual capacity to embrace any of these noble professions.
However, if Hilda’s weak limbs posed as a stumbling block on her path to these professions, her charming voice provided a vertiable stepping-stone for journalism, which she now practices with savvy and passion.
A graduate from UB’s school of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) in 2002, Hilda worked for four years with the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Radio in Buea.
But her dream of joining the national broadcasting house, CRTV-radio, became reality when she was successful in a recruitment test in 2006, alongside other CRTV stars like Pochi Tamba, Ayi Mbile and Bennen Buma Gana.

Her triuphant arrival at CRTV notwithstanding, Hilda’s adaptation posed a problem because unlike the others, she could not go out on news coverage. This explained why she was transferred from the newsroom to the programmes service.
Once sent to co-ordinate luncheon-date, Hilda jumped for the opportunity and before long she became one of the best for the talk-show job. Today she is simply referred to as the L.D. mistress.
Explaining her phenomenon, Hilda evokes her spirit of determination and positive thinking.
« I must also credit my success first to God, then to my family and friends who have always stood by me,» she says.
A veritable success story, Hilda Bih is today the source of inspiration for future radio and TV broadcasters.
« I once watched her on a TV show explaining how she overcame physical disability and is now showcasing her ability. Since then i am always inspired each time i listen to her soul-searching voice on L.D,» one of her admirers said.
Once an accomplished broadcaster, Hilda now uses her angelic voice to also advocate sex education and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
