Go Well Elah Geoffrey Mbong:

Bike Accident Claims Editor of The Sun
By Ticha Melanis in Limbe
Go well Elah Geoffrey Mbong
The entire press core in Cameroon and Limbe in particular is in total shock and despair after the passing away of the editor of the Sun Newspaper, Elah Geoffrey Mbong, who doubles as the secretary general of CAMASEJ Limbe chapter.
He passed away at the early hours of Friday morning at the regional hospital Limbe after being knocked down by a bike inflicting him with a serious wound at the back of neck which led to the profuse bleeding. He was coming back from printing some magazine in Douala.
Report says the bike rider with no head lamps was running away from security forces as he was chased for violating the curfew in order. Following investigation made by the divisional delegate of communication madam olive Ejang and the president of CAMASEJ Limbe chapter, they found out from the police that there was no incident of forces chasing bikes at that hour.
The nurses on duty at the time he was rushed to the hospital said the bike rider pretended to be in a bad situation but sneaked out of the hospital with the help of his family members. Reports said he was latter tracked down by the police.

Elah Geoffrey was a fine news editor despite his law background. He was also artful in layout design.  He worked for several news houses in the SW and beyond before joining  The Sun as editor.
He will be remembered for his humility, his penchant to listen to and advice colleagues. He contributed in no small way in revamping the Limbe branch of Camasej.
The president of Camasej Limbe described him as a man of infinite capacities yet disarming, simple and selfless.
To his colleague and friend, Solomon Tembang of the Guardian post, Elah’s death is a big loss to the Cameroon media family.
“I am speechless. I remember how Goef will call me and say Maimo we need you because together we can build a unique and strong Limbe Camasej chapter. It is a shame that he leaves only now,” said Maimo Davidson.
Geof is survived by his two daughters, his family members, his colleagues, members of the VIVEMO veteran club and a host of friends.
His remains will be removed from the Limbe mortuary and laid in  his home on Friday, Ist June. Burial will follow in Bangem on Saturday.
