The people of Livanda village in Limbe I subdivision of the South West region, have been urged to be law abiding and to collaborate with the administration by reporting all suspected secessionists and criminals in their village to the local authorities and forces of law and order.
The DO of Limbe 1, Seraphin Epalle, was speaking while installing HRH Motia Mathias Motia as the new traditional ruler of Livanda village. The installation ceremony took place on Friday, 25 May 2018, at the Livanda community field.
Drawing from the Cameroon chieftaincy law of 5 July 1977 and decree No 77/245 organizing chiefdoms in Cameroon, the DO said as an auxiliary to the administration, HRH Motia Mathias Motia has the duty to inform the hierarchy regularly about all activities taking place in his village. He said no lapses will be tolerated.
The DO asked the new chief to take care of his subjects, ensure the preservation of social peace in Livanda, unite all factions of the population and immediately set up a traditional council comprising essentially of Bakweri indigenes to help him manage the affairs of the village.
He equally urged the new chief to launch a fight against stray animals and maintain proper hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness in his chiefdom to ensure a commodious living environment for the population.

The DO called on the cosmopolitan population of Livanda to learn to cohabit with one another because Cameroon is a multicultural nation. He called on other traditional rulers of Limbe1 subdivision to advice and help HRH Motia Mathias Motia to succeed in his challenging task.
“Chief Motia Mathias Motia to be a good chief you should be ready to listen to advice, learn from others and use your vitality positively. Do not forget that you need the support of every member of the community to succeed in your tasks. Your majesty, while extending to you my sincere congratulations, I declare you officially installed into your functions as the third class chief of Livanda village,” the DO proclaimed.
The chairman of Limbe chief’s conference, Dr. Chief Molindo Ekoka, called on the inhabitants of Livanda to give the new chief the support he needs. He urged the new chief to work with everybody without discrimination, since his village is a cosmopolitan one.
Reacting to The Median, HRH Motia said he would work with all segments of the cosmopolitan population of Livanda so as to be able to adequately harness the full potentials of the village.
Elvis Essoka Masoki, one of the kingmakers of Livanda, explained that HRH Motia Mathais Motia was chosen in preference to the other contender to the throne because apart from being an illustrious son of the village, he has also helped a great deal in developing the village.
Elvis Essoka jumped for joy over the fact that chief Motia has become the first gazetted chief of Livanda village. He used the occasion to wish the chief God’s guidance as he sets out to lead the people of Livanda.
Motia Mathias was unanimously chosen as the new chief of Livanda by all the five kingmakers of Livanda village. This was after three successive consultative talks convened and chaired by the DO for Limbe 1. His coronation and installation puts an end to the long-drawn wrangling that had blocked the Livanda chieftaincy succession for years.
Chief Motia Mathias Motia is married with six children.
