Was Kosala School Master Killed by Wife’s Boyfriend?  

-Wife denounces husband for masterminding the killing

The Median Newspaper has it on good authority that the pedagogic inspector for the promotion of bilingualism in Kumba II sub-division, Mr. Atiba Clement has been arrested and detained at the Kumba Central Police Station for allegedly having a hand behind the killing of the Senior Discipline Master of Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Kosala, Kumba, Mr. Ashu Thomas Nkongho and severely damaging three fingers of an Upper Sixth Arts Student by name Mama Ausini Tita with a machete on Wednesday April 25, 2018.

            Our interlocutor revealed the arrest of Atiba Clement was carried out Thursday April 26 around Bicec Junction, Kumba a day after the gruesome act was committed on the GBHS Kosala school campus. He narrated that it was done after Atiba’s wife whose names we couldn’t confirm at press time reported him to the Kumba police officers for allegedly having a hand in the death of the Discipline Master.

            Our source added that Atiba’s wife went to the police in evening of Wednesday April 25, 2018 and complained that her husband has been accusing her of having an affair with the deceased discipline master. She also reportedly said that the husband has being beating her on several occasions over the issue with the latest case being on the night of Tuesday April 24 breaking Wednesday April 25 when the gruesome act happened.

            It is said that in the morning of gruesome crime, Atiba had vowed to his wife that he would kill her purported lover (the discipline master), and that was after he had got her well beaten. Atiba has four children with the wife. It was also revealed that Atiba and the discipline master were neighbours living behind Hope Clinic, Kosala.

            Reports also indicate that the woman has opted to be kept in Police custody for security reasons. Meantime, Police have opened investigations on the matter that was initially attributed entirely on the ‘Ambazonia’ hit and run soldiers.

 ‘Ambazonia’ soldiers blamed for the attack

As news of the attack spread like wildfire early Wednesday morning, many Kumba city dwellers attributed it to the pro-independent separatists ‘Ambazonia’ fighters. All schools and shops were closed in the whole town as parents rushed to cleect their kids from schools.

            The Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin, who visited the scene of the incident attributed it to an attack from separatists fighters. He condemned the act, describing it as barbaric and inhumane in a press briefing in his conference room while strongly promising he was going to do all he could to make sure those behind the attack are arrested.

            “The population should be reassured that the state is there to take care of them and in a few days the SDO and his team will arrest all those responsible for what happened in GBHS Kosala where those three boys from Matoh came and killed the discipline master” Ntou’ou Ndong promised while pleading on all parents and students to continue sending their children to school. Ntou’ou Ndong said he has instructed the Kumba II Mayor to ensure the bridge around the area under construction is completed with immediate effect so that he will stop trespassing on the road in the school campus that leads to Matoh.

School Principal Escapes Death

            Reports also have it that on the day on the incident the Principal of GBHS Kosala, Mwelle Kunz Mbai who is due retirement this May 2018 received a call from unknown persons promising him hell for refusing to close the school. It is said it was the call that made the principal to delay home that morning. Our sources said it was as a result of the absence of the principal on campus that led to the killing if the senior discipline master who was arguably the only administrator on campus that morning. The Senior Discipline Master of GBHS Kosala in Kumba II Sub Division of the South West Region, Ashu Thomas Nkongho was shot dead at about 7:20am Wednesday April 25 by unknown men. He was posted in the school in 2010 and was also the Mathematics teacher of the school. He is equally the Secretary General of Presbyterian Church Kosala Congregation.

School doors remain shot down

            As investigations continue on the issue to ascertain if the arrested suspect actually had hand in the murder, GBHS Kosala and many schools have all remained close for fear of the unknown. Many parents have expressed fear sending their kids to school. Others even say if care is not taken the incident might force schools to remain close for this last term of the school year in Kumba.
