The population of Etam 1 in Tombel Sub Division on Saturday July 5th 2014 was that of enthusiasm and fanfare as they all gathered in front of the palace to witness the installation of their new Chief eight years after the former Chief of that village died.
Welcoming the population who came out massively to witness the installation, the Chairman of the Etam 1 traditional council, Ndip Simon Agbor thanked all who came for the installation and urged the new Chief to collaborate with the elders so that together they can work for the growth of the village.

Then came the pouring of libation by Pa Alexander Alobwede who is the eldest man in Mwanyoh Clan.
Chief Epie Michael, president of Mwanyoh Chief's Conference likened the people of Etam 1 to sheep without shepherd for the past eight years. He said that the Etam 1 people have been patient for all these years and now God has answered their prayers. He opined that God has given them the good shepherd who will lead them through the storms.
The prefectoral order N0:302PO/G/42/8/33/AJpias recognizing Alobwede Christopher Kome as 3rd Class Chief of Etam 1 Village in Tombel Sub Division was signed by the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Handerson Quetong Kongeh on the 4th of June 2014. It was read on the occasion by the President of the Tombel Chief's Conference H.R.M, Ediage Francis.
Advising the new Chief Komensue noted that a chief does not have a retirement age as such the new chief should be the father, first servant, family head of all the families in Etam 1. He urged the new chief to be the first judge and that his palace should be an embassy for all strangers. He observed that from now henceforth the new chief's private life will be monitored. He urged the chief to listen carefully before he decides on any matter.
To the wife of the newly installed chief, she was urged to always assist her husband, support all women’s activities, support her husband's short comings and to unite her people.
The populations of Etam 1 were urged to lead their chief to the right direction and assist him to make perfect decisions. Quarter heads were called upon to work in close collaboration with the new chief.
Talking to this reporter after his installation, Chief Kome Alobwede Christopher said he is very happy to be crowned the chief of Etam 1 after eight years of waiting. He noted that his immediate task is to reconcile the population.
