AU Commission Chairman Ends 3-day Visit to Cameroon

Moussa Faki Mahamat  was President Biya’s guest at Unity Palace

The Chairperson of the African Union, AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat has left Yaounde for Addis Ababa after 3 days of a busy and intense itinerary in Cameroon.
Moussa Faki was on Saturday, 14 July, seen off at the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport by Prime Minister Philemon Yang.
He came into the country on Thursday 12 July and was welcomed by external relations minister, Eugene Mbella Mbella.
The three days in Cameroon were enough for the Chadian diplomat to acquaint himself with efforts by Cameroon and Cameroonians to adhere to and live with the Pan-African spirit.
The several audiences he had with Cameroonian authorities also enabled the former Chadian minister of external relations to be informed on how Cameroon was coping with both chronic as well as acute security challenges notably Boko Haram in the Far North, the Anglophone crisis in NW and SW and refugee crisis in the East.

The AU Chairman during his stay here was received in audience by President Paul Biya, who also honoured him with a state banquet. During their audience, the two men talked African integration, peace-keeping, resolution of regional conflicts among others.
Moussa Faki Mahamat also visited the international Relations Institute in Yaounde where he granted a press conference on his stay here.
His last visit before heading to the Airport was at the Office of the Rector of the Pan-African University in Bastos, Yaounde. Here he was shown round the 9-floored building that temporarily hosts the University. He was also presented the architectural plan of the permanent structures that will be built in the years ahead to host the institution.
