PWD Bamenda ascend to division 1 after 14 years in wilderness |
After staying in football purgatory for 14 long years
(since 2005) the emblematic football club of the NW region has finally ascended
to the Elite I Chamionship.
The “Abakwa Boys” have picked an early qualification
ticket to division one after trouncing AS Etoa Meki of Yaounde 3-0 in Bamenda
on Tuesday. It was match-day 27 of the
30-match championship.
With
just three playing days to the end of the Elite II championship, PWD are
topping the league table with 54 points, three points clear of runners-up,
Avion with 51 points. Third placed Tonnerre Yaounde have 46 points, while
legendary Canon Yaounde are fourth with 45 points.

Bamenda have ascended to Elite I after 14 years in the cold. They were
relegated to division two in 2005.
At the
end of the championship three teams will ascend to the Elite I, while the last
three clubs will be relegated to the regional leagues.
