Kidnapped Ndian DO, Kumba Police Woman Freed

A Divisional Officer from Ndian Division recently kidnapped in Kumba and a female Police officer have regained their freedom after allegedly paying varied amounts of ransom to their abductors. Wilson Ebai, Divisional Officer of DikumeBalue and Akumbo Veronica, assistant police superintendent attacked to the Kumba Central police station were freed last week after spending days in captivity.
            They were both kidnapped on Saturday June 23, 2018 in different circumstances. Reports from Lake Site radio in Kumba indicated that Ebaiwas freed after paying a ransom of FCFA 2.5 million. He was kidnapped at a home where he had reportedly come to seek refuge from the escalating crisis and threats to his life by unknown persons in his area of command.
VictorineAkumbothe female police officer and her granddaughter were also freed after spending three days in captivity. We cannot confirm if she was released on ransom though unconfirmed reports point to it. She was kidnapped while returning from routine vespers.

            While the Kumba police force will be celebrating the release of Akumbo, the special branch police commissioner of Kumba II sub-division, Ngong James kidnapped around June 19 is still under captivity. He was kidnapped around the locality of Mbalangi and Bombe Bakundu in the Buea road axis of Mbonge Sub-Division while returning from Fako Division after spending a weekend with his family.
            Initial reports we couldn’t independently confirm indicated that a ransom of FCFA 500 000 proposed by his wife was rejected by his abductors. Reports still to be confirmedindicated that he is undergoing serious torture in the hands of his kidnappers. As at now we cannot independently confirm the whereabouts of the Ngongand to ascertain if he is still alive.
