New Paramount Chief Promises to Reinstate Victoria’s Glow

Prince John Elufa Manga Williams
is new 1st Class Chief of Limbe

Prince John Elufa Manga Williams has been chosen as the new Paramount Chief of Limbe and the First Class Chief of Victoria now Limbe. He was chosen as the paramount ruler of the Bakweri people in Limbe by all 6 kingmakers of the royal family (the Manga Williams, Carr and Mukeba families) on Wednesday 11 July 2018 at the Limbe City hall, during the third consultative talks coordinated by the SDO for Fako, Egamba Emmanuel Ledoux.
The designation of John Elufa Manga Williams has therefore put an end to the over 12-year conflict pitting members of the Royal families as to who ascends to the paramount throne, after the demise of the late chief Ferguson Manga Williams.
The kingmakers said they endorsed John Manga Williams as their choice to succeed his late grandfather because he is a cool, level-headed man who knows the Bakweri tradition and more so because Limbe needed a chief to pilot the affairs of the town.
The new chief-elect maintained that he was overwhelmed by the trust the kingmakers had in him and that of supporters who threw their weight behind despite the challenges. And so he promise to use 6 months to bring back what Limbe has lost saying limbe has lost a lot over the past years as the families were yet to agree on who becomes the paramount chief of Limbe. He stated that with the support from the administration of Limbe, all living forces of Limbe together from those of the 80's till present, they will succeed to make former Victoria smile again.
The new paramount chief said he is thankful that the whole struggle has come to an end and on days ahead, he will have a meeting with his team to create a blueprint so that whenever there is a vacancy, it won't be difficult and complicated to choose a new chief.

One of the members of the Carr family, Esther Carr expressed her joy at the choice of the new chief who she said is a man of the people and knows how to bring people together. She believes he is what Limbe needs because he will rule them with love and truth and not someone who disagrees with almost everybody in the town.
She said despite the fact that her brother, David Nanjia Carr was one of the contender, she had made it clear in all the consultative talks that the Carr family is not ready to take the chieftaincy stool because there disunity amongst them.
After they pronounced John Manga Williams as the new paramount chief of Limbe, he offered a thanksgiving service for his victory. The service took place at the Ebenezer Baptist Church down beach Limbe.
Presiding over the service, Pastor Bimi Godlove read from the book of 1st Samuel 16:1-3 which States that a king comes from God and not man. John Manga Williams was anointed by the pastor to lead his people with wisdom and love reminding him to put his trust in God for he made it possible for him to be where he is.  The pastor called on the people of Limbe to support their new chief for he has been chosen by God and it makes a new beginning for the city of limbe.
It worth mentioning that one of the contenders to the paramount chieftaincy stool, David Nanjia Carr was slammed a 17months jail term by the court of first instance in Limbe 10 days before the designation of the new 1st class chief of Limbe. He was jailed over land disputes between him and the chiefs of Livanda and Bonadikombo villages.
