The National Chairman of United Democratic Party, Bochom El Hadj Lawan Bako has intimated that Paul Biya is the best and experienced candidate of the lot that are aspiring for the upcoming presidential elections come October 7, 2018.
He has also revealed that even if Paul Biya refuses to table his Candidacy, the United Democratic Party which is part of the presidential majority will convince him to stand.
The UDP National Chairman made the declaration in Bamenda while reacting on the call of Cameroonians to polls by President Paul Biya and the context in which the elections will hold.
“The UDP has renewed its confidence in Paul Biya because we know he is the best amongst the candidates so far declared. He knows where the shoes pinches, he has the experience and I think he stands a better chance to solve the Anglophone problem and completely because he has started and knows where it has to end.” he noted.
Justifying his claims, the shrewd and outspoken politician also said he prefers President Paul Biya for the interest of peace and capable of averting a blood bath which is eminent if a novice becomes president.

“When you bring in a young president, young not in age put in experience, young in political issues in the will start practicing leadership skills and before you know it time has gone and nothing done” he added.
Reacting on the call to elections, Bochom El Hadj Lawan Bako said “Paul Biya acted within the precincts of the law and constitution of the country. He is the man of action, he is the man of the moment and a constitutional expert and cannot make the mistake to have postponed the elections no matter the odds”.
He noted that if Biya had postponed the elections as some people have been advocating, he would have created a vacuum stressing that there was need to call Cameroonians to the polls to see if they will still renew their confidence in him or to another opposition leader.
Concerning the ongoing Cameroon Anglophone crisis, he observed that “we still have three months. Within this three months, the gods of this country will do everything that there is peace and a principle atmosphere for to exercise our rights of voting”.
He added that problems emanating from the Anglophone crisis is not caused by Paul Biya but by Atanga Nji through his utterances which says has aggravated the crisis.
