In appreciation of the wonderful efforts to develop Tiko town and better the lives of the populations of the municipality, the Fako Traditional Dance, Arts and Cultural Association, Fatradanca, mobilized some close to 10 traditional dance groups from all 10 regions of the country to hail and encourage the newly elected mayor of Tiko and his collaborators.
The cultural bonanza that took place on Sunday, May 24, 2014 at the Tiko council premises witnessed the presence of the Mayor of Tiko, Moukondo Daniel, the 4 Deputy mayors, councilors and well wishers. Fatradanca is a federation of all the different cultural associations in Tiko sub division, recognized by the SW regional delegation of culture.
According to Fatradanca President, Ngando Mwambo Edwin, the reception organized in honour of the mayor and his entourage is in recognition of the fact that “our votes in the twin elections of September 2013 did not fall on sandy soil but rather, on very fertile soil.”

It should be noted that in just 7 months of their stay in office, the new council executive of Tiko council counts an impressive number of executed development projects including amongst others the construction of at least 10 culverts; many graded inter-connecting streets and roads in Tiko, Likomba and Mutengene; multi-form assistance to social centers, schools and hospitals. It should be mentioned that the mayor of Tiko doubles as the chairman of the management board of hospitals in Tiko sub division.
Speaking to the press, the Fatradanca President Mola Ngando called on all to join the council in the process of making Tiko one of the best places in Fako Division and the south west region as a whole.
On his part, Mayor Moukondo appreciated the wonderful gesture by Fatradanca. He appreciated especially the diversity of cultures displayed on the occasion, saying that it tied vividly with government’s policy of national unity and integration. It is worthy to note that mayor Moukondo is a rare blend of three ethnic groups: His father is Bakweri in South West, his mother from Alatinie in North West, while his wife is Ewondo from the Centre region.
Moukondo urged the populations to copy the good example of Fatradanca and participate actively to the development of Tiko municipality and Cameroon at large.
Talking on the way forward and future projects, the mayor highlighted projects in the pipeline like the construction of a befitting banquet hall big enough to host council sessions, marriages and other occasions; erection of a fence around the council premises, construction of new markets in Misselele (fcfa 56 million) and Mutengene big mop market (fcfa 60 million) respectively.
The presence at the ceremony of the CPDM mayoral candidate in the September 2013 twin elections, chief Mesoso 111, was appreciated by many. Commentators said Mesoso’s presence was glaring testimony of his recognition of the good works of his erstwhile political adversary, mayor Moukondo.
