32 years of New Deal

Tiko CPDM in coma
-Youths blame situation on visionless elders
By Francis Lenjo in Limbe

Nyam Calvin, the Sub-Section President for Tiko Central in the Fako 4 CPDM Section has proposed a formula to bail out Fako 4 from what he calls a comma. He reminded that a couple of years back he had referred to the party in Tiko as a snoring party. Now he said, the party is in a comma and needs an immediate cure.
He was speaking recently at the Tiko Holtfort field during the 32nd anniversary celebrations of President Biya’s coming to power.  The  CPDM he said had been divided but today the militants have decided to prevent the party from crumbling. “We have to keep the flame of the party burning,” he said, noting that President Biya during the past 32 years had   kept Cameroon in peace.
"For 32 years we have enjoyed peace and we know that without peace, nothing can be done. I call on the party structures to be respected in Tiko. There are some charlatans who come in only during periods of elections and insist that they want to run for council or Parliament. This cannot be. You need to grow within the party to understand how it functions. People should not think that with bags full of money they can fight people who have exercised patience and stayed in the party for years."

In the same vein, the YCPDM president in Fako 4 Lepasha Celestine attributed the disorder in the party to the lack of respect for hierarchy. He suggested that trouble shooters who were at the root of the problems be brought to book. He urged the old guard to give way for the youths to also have the opportunity to serve the party.
"Parents and elderly persons should accept their errors and give way for the younger ones to rise to the top and also pilot the affairs of the party into the future,” Lepasha said, noting with satisfaction the election of the youthful Hon. Etoke as parliamentarian for Tiko and Muyuka.
For his part, the Section President Eteki Dikongue said for peace to be maintained in Cameroon, there had to be complete collaboration between party militants and the administration as well as with the forces of law and order. "Our state of comma is caused by a virus which is the lack of unity and respect for hierarchy," he said.
The General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation Njie
Franklin Ngoni, representing the CPDM Central Committee SG, Jean Kuete, called on militants to rally behind President Paul Biya in his fight against insecurity.
Reminding militants of the President's firm stand to fight Boko Haram, Mr. Njei Franklin  told them that it was the duty of  each and every one to rally behind the Head of State.
Calling the attention of militants to the fact that it was time to exercise real patriotism, the CDC GM beseeched them to report any suspicious persons or happenings in their neighbourhood to public authorities and the forces of law and order. He reminded militants that it was time for
them to start practicing real militancy, adding that the problems within the party in Tiko were caused by the lack of real militancy.
“Fako 4 Section has to go down to work,” the GM said, calling on militants to observe the grass roots and identify true leaders who will lead the party into the future. The colourful occasion was graced by the presence of a cross section of CPDM heavy weights within the Tiko Sub Division and traditional rulers.
