Meanwhile, the senior councilors of the Kumba City Council adopted a budget of 1.808.957.473 FCFA for the year 2016 amidst much wrangling. The senior councilors decried the poor communication between executive councilors and senior councilors. Thus, they demanded to know the outcome of several projects which had been proposed during the last budgetary session such as the purchase of a motorbike to ease the travels of the Mutual Health Organisation manager and the construction of the Buea Road motor park.

                One grand councilor, Fon Anthony, accused the executive councilors of protecting and even promoting some workers who needed to be ousted from office, even though he did not cite any names.

                As to the construction of the park, the South-West FEICOM manager, Nkwetta Margaret, who was present at the deliberations, explained that funds have been granted for the construction of the park but the work has been postponed to January when traffic within the park would have reduced.

                Among decisions taken during the budgetary session were the doubling of the rents per Kumba Main Market stall from 10.000 FCFA to 20.000 FCFA and an injunction to the KCC’s head of Sanitation and Hygiene to desist from invading sub-divisional territories to collect fees for burials or authorise burials in private homes.

                SDO Koulbout advised the senior councillors to work in concert with the Government Delegate for the good of the population with dialogue as their watchword.
