Violence erupted again in Ndop on the morning of Friday 10 February, leading to the death of at least three people, reports said.
According to the reports, the new skirmishes escalated when the population staged a march to the palace of the Fon of Bamunka, FonNjoya, to inquire from him if it is true that he had taken bribe from the government to cajole his subjects to send their children to school.
The population also wanted the Fon to explain why he had to brand Bamunka people as “stubborn and should be taught a lesson by the police.” This was after the violence earlier on Thursday that led to the death of one person and the arrests of scores others.

The cause of Thursday’s violence was not immediately known.
It emerged that the Fon had allegedly told the mob off, asking them to disperse to their homes without further delay.
Not able to swallow the Fon’s arrogance or come to terms with the brutal murder of one of their own earlier on Thursday, the irate youths reportedly attacked their Fon and set the palace ablaze.
The said Palace is located just a stone’s throw from the Ndop Police Station where most of those arrested on Thursday were detained.
Our source said when the Palace was set ablaze, the police then opened fire on the population in an effort to quell the tension. Three persons reportedly died on the spot.
Meanwhile the Fon reportedly took to his heels under the escort of security agents.
Ndop has been a hot spot within the last few days and it remains to be seen what happens to FonNjoya and those detained.
The Fon at press time was said to be taking refuge with the police as the dust was yet to settle.
Most residents remained indoors after this latest killing in the small town.
At the time of this report, it emerged that the Ndop police have been reinforced by the BIR and are indiscriminate arrests were being carried out.
At press time yesterday, the whereabouts of the Fon was not clear.
