They were all unanimous that the intervention of SHUMAS was a stitch in time to salvage them from the shortage of classrooms and workshops which has been characteristic of most public schools.
“we are very positive that when these projects would have been realized, the educational level of the students of Bangshie and its environs must improve qualitatively and quantitatively as the teaching and learning process will move on smoothly without hitches” observed Mr Abongwa.
On his part the SDO for Mezam, Nguele Nguele Felix, while expressing gratitude to SHUMAS for the projects lauded the participative approach they have adopted in executing their projects over the national territory.
Nguele Nguele Felix beckoned on the Bamenda I council to put their weight behind SHUMAS in the execution of the project noting with optimism that life of the beneficiary community will never be the same again when all the projects will be executed.
According to the Director of SHUMAS, with the commencement of the 2015/2016 academic year they are putting into use 44 classrooms with 39 more expected at the end of the academic summing up to 800 classrooms constructed since the organization kick-started.
In health, it is currently equipping 12 health centers with three more to be equipped at the end of the year bringing the total to about 30 since they began.
As regards portable water, five communities will benefit this year bringing the total to more than 50 communities so far.
“The programs are implemented indiscriminately to benefit all communities and denominations according to their level of need and participation” noted the Director.
Created in 1997, SHUMAS is a development non-governmental organization that aims to improve lives, reduce poverty and empower people to meet their needs without compromising the needs of prosperity.
