Limbe III Mayor offers scholarships, classrooms to GSS Mabeta

By Nwo- Fuanya in Limbe
As the enthusiasm for the 2015 back to school reached its crescendo last week, the Mayor of Limbe III, Nseke Luma Dibotti  extended the largesse of his council to one of  the most deprived segment of school going children in his municipality.
This was through a scholarship award exercise that took place in Mabeta Fishing Port recently. While handing over the scholarships comprising cash, exercise   books, writing materials and other didactic material to students and authorities of GSS Mabeta, Nseke Luma Dibotti pointed out that his mission to Mabeta was manifold: The first was to hand over cash prizes to some students of GSS Mabeta who distinguished themselves in the last academic year; secondly to offer school materials to primary school pupils in the Mabeta fishing Port area, thirdly to announce the construction of two classrooms for GSS Mabeta to be completed in the first segment of the 2015/2016 academic year, and finally to hand over the trophy of the holiday inter-quarter football final.
In his preliminary statement on the occasion, Mayor Nseke explained that school going children in Mabeta are like any others elsewhere in the country despite the difficult terrain and circumstances under which they go to school. Given that these children incarnate the future and development of the Limbe III municipality, Nseke explained, it is important that they be given the opportunity to learn the skills that they will need to carry out their mission.

He said for a very long time, the riverine area of Mabeta has been neglected in terms of development, reason why this year and for the first time, his council gave priority to the area unlike in the past when they were hardly taken into consideration.
The Mayor explained that some students of GSS Mabeta were selected on the basis of merit to benefit scholarships. He enjoined those who were not selected to work harder next year.
It is at this juncture that the mayor proceeded to announce that in response to the urgent needs of GSS Mabeta, his administration is immediately beginning the construction of two classrooms that will serve the school in the current academic year, concluding that as the only secondary school in the subdivision, GSS Mabeta needs the support of all.
The Principal of GSS Mabeta, Tayim Simon Abila for his part expressed gratitude to the Limbe III council for a timely and kind gesture. He told reporters that his school has been going through enormous difficulties. He added that the didactic material offered by the council to the school will go a long way to solve problems in the course of the academic year.
The 1st Assistant DO for Limbe III, Atede Otabela Herve Yannick who chaired the ceremony for his part said government is doing all it can to ensure that every Cameroonian child goes to school.
Meantime, the ceremony was also marked by the finals of the holiday inter quarter football  tournament which saw Esele FC of Man O War Bay beating Mbomo FC 6 goals to 5 after post match penalty shootout. Mayor Nseke noted that the tournament was a means of keeping the youths of Limbe III united and busy during the holiday period.
