After Motanga’s Crushing Victory:

Angry Limbe CPDM militants threaten to join SDF

Hundreds of CPDM militants in Limbe are now threatening to join the SDF party along with their supporters after the incumbent Section President of the erstwhile Fako IA, and Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Andrew Motanga Monjimba meandered over all the banana peelings placed on his way to obtain a crushing victory over his opponents in the ongoing CPDM reorganization exercise.
    Though speculations were rife that Motanga would be given a good run for his money in the elections, this only turned out to be a pipe dream as he gave his rattling opponents  a bashing that was not previewed at all.
    For the post of Fako IA CPDM section President, Motanga had 3488 votes while his runner up Kemajou Brisco managed 181.The third person for the post, Dr Esunge who was highly rated crawled in third position with 179 votes. Critics were quick to note that the two humiliated politicians sensed their humiliation, reason why they did not even show up for the  counting exercise.
    In spite of the crushing majority in favour of Motanga, disgruntled supports of the losing side still claimed to be the majority. According to them, unfair criteria were used to make sure that they do not vote in the election, thereby giving the leeway for the Motanga supporters to give him the outstanding victory. To buttress their point, these CPDM supporters whose political strength is still questionable have vowed that they prove their point by joining and voting for the SDF in subsequent elections.

    They argued that for a city of Limbe that counts several thousands of eligible voters ,there is something wrong somewhere for only about 6000 CPDM militants to take part in the elections of the President of Fako IA. They thus concluded that all the other militants who were not allowed to vote due to the procedures are now considered as the opposition. For this reason ,they fumed  ,they will now carry their votes to the SDF in the next elections and see if the number of militants that voted in the reorganization will be able to give the party a victory in Limbe.
    Reacting to these worries ,the newly elected Fako IA CPDM Section President, Andrew Motanga said the fact he was elected does not mean other militants are not important. He appealed with them to come and join him to build the party for greater challenges such as general elections that are ahead; According to Motanga ,all the differences that characterized the build up to the elections should be left in the past and everybody should now put hands on deck for one ,united and strong CPDM party in Limbe I.
    Meantime Eposi Janjo Christiana and Eyole Haddison were also elected alongside Motanga as WCPDM and YCPDM presidents respectively.
    It should be recalled that after efforts to create a consensus list failed and faction started cropping up in CPDM in Fako IA speculations were rife that   the increasing dissenting voices within the ranks of the militants, Motanga Andrew’s chances of being reelected after he first took the office in 2002 were seriously compromised especially with the coming of new names such as Dr Esunge. However Dr Esunge’s very poor showing in the elections have left observers questioning whether such a quarrel was necessary after all.
