Fallouts of Teachers strike:

Police officer molests teacher who failed to heed strike call
By Johnson Batuo
One of the trump cards of the Biya’s administration in the continuous marginalisation of Anglophone Cameroonians has been the unwillingness of some Anglophones to come together and speak with one voice.
The Anglophone teachers’ strike which started on Monday 21 November 2016 has revealed that though there are some Anglophone black legs who do not adhere to the strike, the strike action has the blessing of the majority of Anglophones.
Some principals and Directors of public Institutions in Meme division, especially in the administrative headquarters tried to frustrate the strike action by threatening and bullying the teachers and administrative staff under them.  Some of these principals understandably did not want to bite the finger that feeds them.

An Anglophone policeman who could not condone the fact that some private institutions were holding classes while others were on strike walked into a privately owned institution in FiangoKumba and seriously thrashed one of the teachers who was conducting classes.
The policeman reportedly vented his anger on this teacher saying that the francophone-dominated government could bank on his action to say that the strike does not have the backing of all Anglophone teachers.
In some government institutions the principals initially locked up the students who had showed up for classes. But after receiving threatening SMS messages and telephone calls these principals stopped the classes and sent home the students.
We gathered that commercial motorcycle riders (okadamen) have vowed to raid any schools where the strike is not respected.
