Anglophone Uprising:

FruNdi requests general pardon to detained activists
-Says only two-states federation would resolve the crisis in NW & SW

Members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Social Democratic Frund Party, SDF, have again reiterated their stance that federalism is the only way to solve the current impasse that common law lawyers and Anglophone teachers initiated which has now crippled courts and schools in NW and SW. The NEC members took the stance last Saturday 25 March 2017 at the residence of the party chairman, Ni John FruNdi in Yaounde.
FruNdi later pointed out at a press briefing after the in-camera NEC meeting, that federalism is what would give local communities greater opportunities in the management of their affairs and in the management of their destiny so that powers could be equitably shared.
He cited the case of big countries like America, Canada and Germany that practice federalism. To him if brought back in Cameroon, federalism will restore participatory development as was the case in the golden age of West Cameroon.

Quizzed if the elective convention of the SDF which had been billed for April this year will still hold, FruNdi said it is irrational holding such an event when Anglophone kids are not going to school and others are locked up in Yaounde. Besides the financial wherewithal to permit the convening of the convention is lacking, FruNdi regretted.
When asked about the situation of Hon Joseph Wirba and Hon. Joshua Osih’s alleged intentions of becoming next chairman in the party, FruNdi unveiled that Joshua Osih just like any other member of the party had the free will to be elected and when the job is not perfectly done, the party will again seat the next year to elect another candidate for the betterment of the party.
As for Hon. Wirba, FruNdi said: “When Wirba made the famous speech at the National Assembly, I called him and congratulated him, but he knew more to have drawn a line between his personal actions and party actions. He should always know how to toe the line so that party discipline will always prevail. You can see on the program, nothing about him is mentioned”.

Anglophone Problem
The Anglophone problem was again tabled, where the party strongly called on president Biya to demilitarized NW and SW so the students could go back to school as it was not their wish to see children staying home. For them, that moment had reached for president Biya who knows the truth to accept the two federated states Anglophones are clamoring for so that the crisis could be resolved once and for all and not a matter of Secession.
Again disclosing from the press statement, the party said if the state could give presidential pardon to common criminals, why then can president Biya not extend a similar pardon to the so many Anglophones who have been detained before even talking about school’s resumption. It is on that note the party called for an unconditional release of the consortium leaders and others languishing in cells.
