Students Hail ACMS for HIV/AIDS Screening, Counseling

Students and teachers of ST Michael Comprehensive High School Nkwen in Bamenda III have described as timely and important an HIV/AIDS free counselling and screening exercise carried on in their school campus recently by ACMS, (Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social).
“I am happy ACMS have come to test us. This is good because when one knows his or her status, it gives one confidence not only to live happily but to study hard. I am happy because they told us if one is positive, he or she can still live his normal life though on drugs. I thank ACMS so much" revealed Binwe Mirabel Abongwa one of the students.
The team from ACMS led by Comfort Mussa educated the  students and teachers that AIDS was no longer a death sentence. They said an AIDS patient can live a normal life if they make their test and are placed on drugs.
The team recommended abstinence or the use of condoms as the best methods to avoid the infection.
Abstinence or the use of condoms they added does not only prevent one from having STDs, but also ensure that unwanted pregnancies.

To ensure that the youths are healthy, strong and ready to face the challenges ahead of them, ACMS target has most often been in schools to offer free screening to teachers and student alike.
The turn out like in St Michael Comprehensive High School has always been impressive with hundreds of students cuing to be tested. To demystify some ugly concepts people harbour about HIV/AIDS, an AIDS patient was brought in to testify about her life and how healthy she is because she did her test and is living on antiretroviral.
To grace the event, ACMS organized a flow-free rap competition on themes like HIV/AIDS and Love. The students thrilled their mates and some of them demonstrated that they were budding talent and stars in the making.     Comfort Musa, one of the Cadres at ACMS told them to remain “reglo” by knowing their status in order to fulfil their dreams in the future. The winners of the competition did not only receive instant prizes, but will feature as star guests in the ACMS' Magazine, 100% Jeune.
