In a move to decongest the lone pharmacy at the Bamenda regional Hospital, a second pharmacy with genuine drugs has been inaugurated to serve the ever growing clients that visit the hospital on a daily basis.
The pharmacy was inaugurated on April 17, 2016 by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, Vincent Nji Ndumu who is also the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council. He was assisted in the inauguration ritual by the Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Public Health Dr Manjo Matilda and the officials of the Bamenda I, II and III Councils.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Director of the Regional Hospital Dr Kinge Thompson said the move was aimed at decongesting the old pharmacy especially with the “exponential increase in the number of consultations and hospitalizations” witnessed by the hospital over the years.
He thanked the Board Members of the hospital especially the Board Chairman for haven given the go ahead for the creation of the pharmacy in February 2016.
Dr Kinge Thompson revealed that in 2014, hospitalization cases moved from 43,232 to 65,300 and consultation cases from 72,409 to 76,651 by the end of  2015.
“As anyone would expect, the influx of patients in many ways also translates a mark of confidence in our personnel caused our lone pharmacy to be over crowded. Waiting time was stretched and many a times, patients left dejected and completely disappointed” Dr Kinge Thompson noted.
“Considering the number of clients to be served, the need to be served rapidly and efficiently, the second pharmacy will go a long way to guarantee our spirit of servitude among our staff and those of the pharmacy in particular” he added.
He promised the population better services and better reception of clients at the level of the pharmacy and other parts of the hospital while assuring the population quality drugs at affordable prices.
On his part the Board Chairman thanked the Director of the regional saying like his predecessors has done tremendous work to ensure better services for the patients.

Situating the role of the management board in the hospital he said the board is there to work with stakeholders to bring meaningful change to the hospital.
He observed that the Bamenda Regional Hospital is one of the few if not the only regional hospital in Cameroon to have two pharmacies with genuine drugs. He used the opportunity to call on Doctors working at the hospital not to refer patients out of the hospital.
Without under minding the work done by the hospital, Vincent Nji Ndumu encouraged the staff to double their efforts especially with the recent developments in the health sector which proved that there was a problem.
