32 schools of the Tiko Sub-Division have benefited from didactic materials worth Five (5) million Francs CFA from Tiko Council. The handing over of the goods took place at the inspectorate of Basic Education for Tiko Sub-Division, Wednesday September 14th, 2016.
The mayor of Tiko Chief Daniel Mokondo in his speech called on the recipients to put the equipment to appropriate use.

“The better you manage the equipment, the more you improve on the equipment pool of the school, especially as more things will come in succeeding years,” advised the mayor, who noted that: “Tiko Council is a friend of the educational sector as in some places or towns, such gestures are not found”.
This gesture from the Mayor comes one week into the resumption of the new school year. But like the wise saying goes, it is better late than never.
The materials donated to the schools included amongst others books, pens, rulers, balls, bandages, spirits and detergents.
Speaking to the Median Newspaper after the event, Mrs. Ndanga Elizabeth Namondo, inspector of Basic Education for Tiko thankd the mayor for a wonderful gesture and like Oliver Twist asked for more to be given.
According to the inspector, distribution of the materials to the Head teachers starts immediately and that measures have been put in place to make sure that each school gets an appropriate share.
Mr. Ndah Mathias, former Tiko Teachers Association President promised an even better academic year 2016/2017 as these materials will go a long way in assisting the children produce better results. He promised to make sure that each student gets a package from the mayor.
Talking to this reporter, Mayor Mokondo made it clear that it is an initiative put in place by the government to assist schools each year. He regretted that the gesture is coming a little late, when schools are already on.
“A better result can only be produced if all hands are put on deck. As the council is doing its part together with the education family, it is left for the students to produce the results because they are the ones writing the various examinations,” he added
It should be recalled that this is not the first time didactic materials from the Tiko Council are being given to teachers and students. A few weeks back, two (2) built schools by the Tiko Council were handed to the natives of Mondoni sub-division.
