Two important offices of the divisional delegation of labour and social security has been reduced to ashes due to a fire outbreak that occurred on Monday January 6, 2020 at about 2am destroying the conference hall and the Archive office including all important documents concerning the delegation.
Due to the unfortunate incident, Cameroon’s minister of labour and social security Gregoire Owona paid a visit to the site to encourage his collaborators and examin e what happen even though they are still to determine what caused the fire. He was in Limbe to equally inform the workers and population of Limbe that government is following up the issue and will make it possible to construct a new office space for the workers.
According to the divisional delegate of the ministry in Limbe, Ekema Mokosso, he was called on Monday at mid night by an inspector of the central police station limbe that the was a fire incident at his ministerial department that was consuming part of the building from behind and he rushed there to see that the fire has consumed the whole of the conference hall and archive office. He recounted that on getting there, the military and the municipal police were already there doing their job to savage the situation which at the end they manage to do at about 5am on Monday morning.
When quizzed on what the total amount that might have been lost, he said it will be difficult to give an estimate of what has been lost as at the moment and they cannot determine the cause of the fire. “The situation is under investigation because they have no personal conflict with anybody or organization. So I cannot say if it was a plan act or not”. He added.
As the population of Limbe especially persons and organizations connected to the labour office awaits the results of the investigations, they hope something is done fast to ensure that everything returns to normal.
